Developmental Editing

The job of a developmental editor is to make your story the best that it can be. We want your manuscript to blossom! A developmental edit focuses on story structure, narrative, description, language, dialogue, and characters.

A developmental edit will include:

  • a 2-5 page overview of your manuscript detailing its strengths and weaknesses and ways in which it could be improved

  • thorough, detailed notes left throughout the manuscript

  • suggestions for additional scenes or plot points that will aid your story

Copy Editing

Proofreading

Proofreading occurs after a copy edit and before publishing. A proofreader will assess your manuscript for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting mistakes. Their job is to fix all remaining errors. As their eyes are fresh to your manuscript, they are more likely to catch whatever was left behind.

A copy editor works to polish your manuscript until it shines brighter than the sun itself. They thoroughly comb through your story to correct any errors in grammar, syntax, spelling, tone and style, wordiness, etc. In my copy editing service I also include line editing.

A copy edit will include all of the above as well as a brief critique on any major plot issues that may arise. You will receive a fully edited copy of your manuscript with tracked changes and a copy with all changes accepted.
